Magic Shutter App Reviews

Love It!

Update, the latest version has only made it better. Thanks developers! To those leaving bad reviews please remember your idevice is not real film, nor a $5,000 digital camera. This app does a great job of combining digital frames onto simulated long exposures. Its just plain different than film and can provide some spectacular results. It will never give a great picture under extrem low light situations. It states in the very first sentence of the description "Not a Night Camera". Its not the fault of the app, its the camera limitations. Please watch the demonstration videos before leaving bad reviews. Read the perfect and easy to understand online manuals. There are plenty of free long shutter apps out there that will just stack frames until the noise overwhelms the picture into junk. This app requires a bit of experimentation and has many adjustments for a "gadget kind of guy" like me. I just love it!

Good app but one problem 

Every time I touch to fix exposure it closes the app! Fix for 5 stars!!

Has potential but...

Mediocre execution. Fix the interface to make it more intuitive.

Great concept now lets refine it a bit.

The interface is simple the possibilities are endless. I am eager to see the development of this app. As it stands it is unstable (touch the screen and it dumps) and not very intuitive. Easy to use? Yes. But it could be much better. Painting with light and having a blast with multiple exposures, this app will impress the early adopters; but leave them yearning for an update right after install. Im not too worried about resolution at this point. Fix the interface (like an immediate delete button for starts) and I think this will soon be a must have app for anyone that appreciates the options of mobile photography.

Flash doesnt work.

The flash functionality doesnt work for me (iPhone4). Regret purchasing at this point.

No flash?

Havent been able to get flash to fire.

Not all that great

After a lot of playing with some various picture possibilities, the only goo ones were of traffic. Makes sense that that is only what the tutorial shows. There is a ridiculous amount of blur on the photos even with slight movement from the subject and a very quickly taken picture. All images just look messy. Unless of course, it is of traffic, then you get the light trails and it looks kind of cool. But who wants a bunch of pictures of light trailing cars? Seriously. Ill stick to Hipstamatic and Picture Show apps for fun photo editing for now.

Big dissapointment

The demo looked very cool but difficult to duplicate those results.

confusing and not a real long exposure

it just stacks the same data on top of the same data... so if something in the photo is moving it will look like a long exposure but if its night you cant get more light into a long exposure shot. expensive. confusing interface. no documentation. :(

Timer please!

The app is great but its almost impossible to keep the phone still while start/stop the shutter. Please, insert a timer to start, keep shutter open for a while and stop...

It does works!! require skill though

I tried it, it works!! yet the result wasnt that good, mostly is because we do not have good lighting source to began with (very unlikey for general users to setup all the nasscaaries just to use the app). Be able to see the result updating on the screen is super great!! Easy for camera dummie like me. Now the developer just need to provide a better adjustment-free experience for this software. I give 3 stars for the result of the image, another 1 star to support the developer, and hoppfully to bring more update!

Add A Timer

WTF guys add a timer so the image will be still when its open... Its not rocket science!!!!

Almost right

They need to add a timer both to close shutter after variable times AUTOMATICALLY. They need to enable auto save with sequential shooting so you dont have to touch the camera to take more than one shot automatically. That would enable making PIKAPIKA movies on the iPhone a breeze. Lastely, allow the sensor chip sensitivity. DO THESE AND WIN AWARDS AND HELP ME WIN MORE AWARDS FOR MY LIGHT PAINTINGS!

 it ROCKS!

Totally Recommended!!! This app is great for: "long exposure" photography-- Visit the developers site, and look at his videos (how to videos) and then decide to buy or not! Actually his videos explain a little; but with this app I can do LOTS!! Working fine on my iphone4 The Best! thanks dev!

Exceeded my Expectations

I figured I would get ripped off by buying this app but I was surprised at the quality and overall "awe factor" it gives photos, especially waterfall shots! I highly recommend it.

Love the idea but...

Just not quite there. Add a couple things and fix a couple things and this app would be the ultimate camera app. Like everyone else is saying FULL RESOLUTION SAVES!!!! When you go from a darker shot to a brighter shot, I often have a really hard time getting the exposure to switch. Weird. Why not have an exposure control separate from the focus? What would be really neat is have a slider button going from the bottom of the screen to the top. Sometimes it would be neat if the camera acted like a real dslr would and actually increase the overall exposure with longer shutter speeds. To at least have this as an option would be nice if its even possible I dont know.

Dont waste your money

This app is no good. I can take long exposure pictures but they wont save to my photos. Garbage.

Photography app

This app has been a useful adjunct to my peripheral interests.

I was mislead and wasted $3

Long exposure means the shutter is left open. It lets you take photos in dim lighting. This does not do that at all. Im going to ask for my money back

Bad app

Have to improve. Long expositure does not work well. To expensive
